Day One – Driving, flying, driving, eating, driving, sleeping. UPDATED with pics
Find out what happened on Day one of my trip
Pics are up. I am on EDGE instead of 3G cellular Internet. So it’s slllloooooow.
I was slightly giddy as the plane taxi’d to the runway. It had been a very long time for me. Whereas, it was the first big plane flight for Stef. There was a really piece of abstract art in the departures lobby made out of wood from old trees. Take a look at some pics of it:
Well, isn’t this planet amazing from up high. Looking down on what humanity built, all I can say is fantastic! Take a look at this gorgeous pic of the water side from up above:
At 1:46 pm, We were cruising at 40,000 ft at a speed of 600 mph. Not much to see but blue skies above and white fluffy clouds below:
Well, by 2:42 pm, we were heading closer and closer to Halifax. We are starting to descend and my head is starting to feel it. This is the part I hate! As we descended into the thick clouds, the sky turned from blue skies and sun to dark and rainy.
Once we had looped around a second time, we landed at the Halifax airport around 4:25 pm. After quickly getting our luggage, we headed for our rental car. We got a Ford Escape for the same price but still charged about 300 more than originally thought. (We wanted two drivers instead of one and decided on the insurance since the vehicle is worth more than any car either of us has owned!)
For three hours, we drove from the airport. (Though, we stopped in New Glasgow for dinner at Swiss Chalet.) Some gorgeous rocky, forest-y scenery was snapped. Below is a beautiful pic of one of those rocky, forest-y hills.
The motel is nice. There is a bit of a musty smell to the room but it was raining all day there and a few windows were open when we got here. It’s a small motel room but it has two doors: one to the parking lot and another looking out over this:
It looks like I will be posting a new blog the next morning! Have a great day!
